Young Volunteer Award

      NIKE YOUNG VOLUNTEER STASH

Today's young volunteers are the future of rugby. Their enthusiasm and commitment ensure the sustainability of our game by providing our clubs and societies with the talent of tomorrow. It is important to highlight and recognise the work that young people are doing, therefore starting this season, the RFU will provide branded Nike "stash" (common term for branded items of clothing such as polo shirts and fleeces) to young people to recognise their efforts within the game.

Clubs and CBs can now nominate their young volunteers for recognition, with the winners being rewarded with an exclusive Community Rugby, Nike-branded fleece.

RFU Volunteer Workforce Development Executive, Laura Fear, is extremely enthusiastic about this new initiative: “This scheme allows the RFU to acknowledge and reward outstanding young people who have not only made a significant contribution to their rugby community, but have also embarked on a pathway of personal development through their volunteering experience. These young people commit a great deal of time to their volunteering and it is fantastic that the RFU have found a means of recognising them with such an appealing reward”.

If you know a young volunteer between the age of 16 and 24 who you think deserves to be recognised for their contribution to rugby, then this is your opportunity to say ''thank you”. For more information, or to request a nomination form, contact the Volunteering team at community@therfu.com.

Jake has made an outstanding contribution to Linley RFC in the time he has been a member of the club and has given exceptional service for someone so young.  At the age of 15 he designed the club’s  website www.linleyandkidsgroverufc.co.uk and has managed it as webmaster for the past 2 years maintaining match results,  match reports , news pages as well as moderating the members guestbook forum.

In the past year he has also taken on the responsibility for club merchandising and runs the club shop supplying members with ties, after-match shirts, shorts, bobble hats etc

He has recently won his place as first XV scrum half and is currently doing his A level studies.  A worthy candidate!
